ACQUISITION: Harrison Street and 1547 buy Hawaii data center. fifteenfortyseven (1547) and Harrison Street have announced the acquisition of DRFortress, the largest carrier-neutral data center in Hawaii, from GI Partners. This strategic partnership is set to accelerate the growth and expansion of critical digital infrastructure across Hawaii and the broader Pacific region. “Hawaii serves as a strategic gateway for connectivity in the Pacific, and DRFortress has established itself as a vital interconnection hub for businesses and global networks alike," said J. Todd Raymond, CEO & Managing Director of 1547. “Investing in essential digital infrastructure that meets the growing demand for secure, high-capacity interconnection is core to our strategy,” said Michael Borchetta, Managing Director at Harrison Street. The acquisition was facilitated with Bank Street Group serving as exclusive financial advisor and Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison and DLA Piper providing legal counsel to the respective parties.

DEVELOPMENT: Meta plans $1 billion data center in Wisconsin. Meta is planning a major new investment in its infrastructure footprint, with nearly $1 billion slated for the development of a new data center project in central Wisconsin. This significant investment is part of Meta’s larger strategy to accelerate its AI and cloud computing capabilities. Meta plans to spend as much as $65 billion this year on AI-oriented infrastructure, with major projects already underway across the U.S., including in Iowa, DeKalb (Illinois), and Louisiana.

DEVELOPMENT: $19 billion campus proposed in Georgia. A massive $19 billion data center project, dubbed “Project Bunkhouse,” has been proposed for Bartow County, Georgia, marking what could become the largest data center development in the state’s history. The plan outlines a 12-building, 8.7 million-SF campus on an 877-acre site. The development is being led by civil engineering firm Kimley-Horn, though the identity of the end user or developer has not been disclosed. The project is expected to require 1,830 megawatts of power at full build-out, exceeding the total energy consumption of the entire city of Atlanta .

DEVELOPMENT: Apple to expand North Carolina data center. Apple is set to significantly expand its footprint in North Carolina, committing $175 million to develop a new 237,600-SF data center in Maiden, Catawba County. The tech giant already operates a major data center campus in Maiden, spanning approximately one million SF, which was first built in 2009. With this latest project, Apple continues its long-term investment in the region, having already put about $4 billion into its North Carolina operations.

DEVELOPMENT: $12 billion project proposed in Missouri. A significant data center project has been proposed in Wyandotte County, Kansas. Red Wolf DCD Properties plans to develop a $12 billion campus comprising six 100-MW buildings, totaling approximately 1.8 million SF. The site spans over 400 acres and is strategically chosen for its available land and existing 161 kV transmission lines, with plans to build two new substations to support the facility.
