DEVELOPMENT: $9.7 billion data center hub proposed in Georgia. A proposed data center campus near LaGrange, Georgia, known as Project West, is expected to bring nearly 600 jobs to Troup County and attract a substantial investment of nearly $10 billion over the next decade. Developers have outlined plans for the 513-acre campus, with the project anticipated to generate significant economic benefits for the region. Project West will feature six 250,000-square-foot data buildings with a combined capacity of 600 megawatts. According to a study conducted by the Economic Impact Group LLC, the development is projected to create 570 jobs with an average annual salary of $80,000 and contribute approximately $762 million in net economic benefit to the City of LaGrange and Troup County.

DEVELOPMENT: Google purchases land for data center development in Oklahoma. Google has acquired 350-400 acres in Stillwater, Oklahoma, for the development of a new data center campus. Google’s new Stillwater data center will be developed under a phased approach, with tax incentives allowing for up to six building phases over the next several years. Each phase will employ approximately 30 people.

M&A: Accenture acquires Soben. Accenture has announced its agreement to acquire Soben. Known for its expertise in data center development and energy industries, Soben will enhance Accenture’s capabilities in advisory services as well as project, cost, and commercial management for clients undertaking complex capital projects.

M&A: NV5 acquires Herman Cx. NV5 has completed the acquisition of Herman Cx. Founded in 2016, Herman Cx specializes in supporting data center infrastructure across the United States for technology companies, financial services, and co-location data centers. The acquisition was executed through a combination of cash and stock and is expected to be immediately accretive to NV5’s earnings. “The acquisition of Herman Cx is another positive step in the growth of NV5’s domestic data center business, expanding our commissioning capabilities for hyperscale data centers,” said Ben Heraud, CEO of NV5. “Data centers continue to be a strategic growth driver for NV5, generating over 20% organic growth, and we are excited for the cross-selling opportunities that will come from this acquisition,” said Andrew Chang, COO of Buildings and Technology at NV5.

M&A: Zayo set to acquire Crow Castle’s fibre solutions business for $4.25 billion. Zayo has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Crown Castle’s Fiber Solutions business in a transaction valued at approximately $4.25 billion. This strategic acquisition is set to enhance Zayo’s critical fiber infrastructure network, which is essential for supporting the growth of AI across the United States and driving economic progress in an increasingly digital landscape. By acquiring Crown Castle’s metro-focused fiber assets, Zayo will extend its reach into key geographic regions, enhancing connectivity for enterprises and data centers nationwide. This move will add approximately 90,000 route miles of fiber to Zayo’s existing network, increasing its overall reach to more than 70,000 on-net locations. “We are strategically investing in expanding and enhancing our country’s critical network infrastructure to meet the demands of hyperscalers, data centers, enterprises and carriers that will facilitate the growing AI economy,” said Steve Smith, CEO at Zayo.
