DEVELOPMENT: Amazon commits $20 billion to Pennsylvania data centers. Amazon plans to invest at least $20 billion to expand data center infrastructure in Pennsylvania, marking the largest private-sector investment in the state’s history. The rollout begins with two campuses in Salem Township (Luzerne County) and Falls Township’s Keystone Trade Center (Bucks County), with additional sites under consideration.

DEVELOPMENT: Microsoft seeks rezoning for Michigan data center. Microsoft has requested rezoning of a 40.5-acre parcel in Gaines Charter Township to enable potential data center expansion. Township staff recommend approval, citing alignment with the Master Plan and surrounding industrial uses, including adjacent Microsoft land and a nearby Amazon warehouse.

DEVELOPMENT: Lyon, Michigan residents protest approval of Verrus data center project. Residents in Lyon Township say they were blindsided after the township planning commission conditionally approved “Project Flex,” a six-building data center campus proposed by California-based Verrus on 172 acres.

ENERGY: Meta moves into power trading. Meta is entering the wholesale power-trading market to manage the high electricity demand of its AI-driven data centers. Through its subsidiary, Atem Energy, the company filed with US regulators to sell energy, capacity, and ancillary services.
