NEWS ROUNDUP

M&A: Lenovo to acquire Infinidat. Lenovo has agreed to acquire Infinidat, a global provider of high-end enterprise storage solutions. This acquisition is set to expand Lenovo's storage solutions portfolio, particularly in the high-end enterprise segment, building upon its current range of flash and hybrid arrays, hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI), software-defined storage (SDS), and Lenovo TruScale data management solutions. Greg Huff of Lenovo and Phil Bullinger of Infinidat expressed great enthusiasm for this acquisition.

PARTNERSHIP: VoltaGrid and INNIO-Jenbacher announce partnership. VoltaGrid, led by CEO Nathan Ough, has announced a strategic partnership with INNIO Jenbacher, led by CEO Olaf Berlien, to jointly develop and deploy the QPAC (Quick Power Access Center) platform, a next-generation power solution designed specifically for data centers. The QPAC platform offers a scalable power capacity of up to 200 MW, delivering high efficiency and reliability to meet the growing energy demands of modern data centers.

DEVELOPMENT: Meta to expand Los Lunas data center campus. Meta is set to expand its data center campus in Los Lunas, NM, with an investment of approximately $800 million. The expansion will add two new buildings to the existing campus, bringing the total number of facilities to nine. Construction is expected to take around three years. The Los Lunas Village Council has approved a resolution to issue taxable industrial revenue bonds (IRBs) to support Meta's expansion. These 'next generation' facilities are designed to support current products and future AI hardware.

DEVELOPMENT: Edged’s Albany data center supports resource conservation. Edged has unveiled its latest facility in New Albany, OH, designed to support high-density AI and advanced computing workloads while prioritizing sustainability. The two-story, 206,000-square-foot data center is anticipated to save nearly 95 million gallons of water annually and deliver 24 MW of critical capacity to the region. A key feature of this facility is its advanced waterless cooling system, developed by Edged's sister company, ThermalWorks. Mitch Fonseca, Chief Operating Officer of Edged, emphasized the company's commitment to sustainable development, stating, "Data centers consume a lot of natural resources, but they are critical to our daily lives. So, we know we must build data centers, and we’d rather be in the business of building data centers in a way that is the most sustainable as possible."

DEVELOPMENT: TPA to build Newton County data center complex. TPA Group, led by executives J. Bradford Smith, Nathan Pramik, and Melissa Perignat, has announced plans to develop the Newton County Technology Park, a substantial data center campus in Newton County, GA. The project entails an investment of $5 billion to construct a nine-building complex spanning nearly 2.6 million square feet on a 317-acre site. The proposed Newton County Technology Park is expected to generate an additional $7 million annually in local tax revenue.
