DEVELOPMENT: Edged launches 26 MW data center in Missouri. Edged has launched a 26 MW data center in downtown Kansas City, MO. Construction was completed by Burns & McDonnell, in collaboration with utility providers Evergy and Spire. Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas praised the development, stating, "Edged is strengthening Kansas City’s position as a leader in the next generation of digital infrastructure while creating jobs and driving economic growth.” Bryant Farland, CEO of Edged, highlighted the project's significance, noting that it represents a $143 million initial economic investment and underscores the region's commitment to sustainable leadership and economic growth.

DEVELOPMENT: Atlas Development to develop $17 billion data center. Atlas Development, led by owner Jonathon Ward, has filed an application to develop Project Sail, a 13-building, 4.9 million SF data center campus in Coweta County, south of Georgia Power's Plant Yates. The project is estimated to cost up to $17 billion and is slated for completion by 2036. Upon completion, it is expected to contribute nearly $1.6 billion annually in local tax revenue.

DEVELOPMENT: Rowan receives green light for Maryland data center projects. Rowan Digital Infrastructure has secured approval from the Frederick County Planning Commission for two additional data center projects, Bauxite II and Bauxite III, in Frederick County, MD. Bauxite II is planned to occupy 822,620 square feet on a 111.5-acre site, while Bauxite III will cover 591,913 square feet on a 55-acre site. The company anticipates that these developments will generate $19 million in annual tax revenue for Frederick County and approximately $57 million annually for the state of Maryland during the construction phase. Tim Alborg, Rowan's Director of Government and Community Affairs, expressed gratitude for the approval.

FINANCING: STACK secures $900 million in green financing. STACK Infrastructure has secured $900 million in green financing to support the development of its data center campus in Prince William County, Northern Virginia. The funds will be used for STACK’s Powered Shell Campus, which is designed to deliver up to 72 MW of critical capacity across three data centers. Brian Cox, CEO of STACK Infrastructure, emphasized the significance of the financing, stating, "This green financing reflects our dedication to delivering sustainable solutions for our clients while supporting their ambitious environmental goals.”

PEOPLE MOVES: Clayco appoints new CEO. Clayco has appointed Anthony Johnson as its new Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Russ Burns, who retired on December 31, 2024. Johnson, a 17-year veteran of the company, previously served as Executive Vice President and President of Clayco's industrial business unit. In conjunction with this leadership transition, Clayco has launched Clayco Compute, an integrated data center delivery business unit focused on the specialized construction of advanced technology centers. Ryan McGuire has been appointed as President of Clayco Compute. Clayco also announced several other executive team changes:

  • Shawn Clark, CEO of CRG, Clayco's real estate development arm, will fill the newly created Chief Strategy Officer role.

  • Steve Sieckhaus, Enterprise Chief Operating Officer, has assumed the role of Enterprise President.

  • Kevin McKenna, the current President of Construction, will take on the newly created Chief Administrative Officer role.

  • Bret Litton, Senior Vice President of Finance, has been promoted to Chief Business Officer.

  • Mike Pierle has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer, Construction.

  • Jim Havel, Clayco Enterprises' Chief Financial Officer, is retiring after more than 40 years in the financial sector but will continue to serve on Clayco's advisory board.

  • Justin Lienemann has been promoted to succeed Havel as Chief Financial Officer.
