ACQUISITION: Digital Realty to acquire $3.5 billion stake in three Virginia data centers. Digital Realty has agreed to acquire Blackstone's 64% equity interest in a portfolio of three fully leased data centers in Northern Virginia for $3.5 billion, valuing the assets at $7.8 billion. Mike Forman, Global Head of Digital Infrastructure for Blackstone Real Estate, and Greg Blank, Global Head of Digital Infrastructure for Blackstone Infrastructure, said the transaction reflects the success of the companies' joint venture and their continued partnership. Matt Mercier, Chief Financial Officer of Digital Realty, said the acquisition is expected to be accretive to Core FFO in 2027 and 2028, with the data centers expected to stabilize between 2027 and 2028.

DEVELOPMENT: MidAmerican evaluates 900-acre Iowa site for potential data center campus. MidAmerican Energy is evaluating a 900-acre site in Salix, Iowa, for a potential data center campus following the property's annexation into the city earlier this year. In a letter to the Salix City Council, the utility said its affiliate, Midwest Capital Group, has secured options on the land to support a future data center customer, although no end user has been selected.

DEVELOPMENT: 30MW cryptocurrency mining facility proposed in Mississippi. An unnamed cryptocurrency mining company has proposed developing a 30MW mining facility in Starkville, Mississippi, on a site adjacent to an electrical substation on Industrial Park Road. The project remains in the early planning stages, with Edward Kemp, Director of Starkville Utilities, saying the facility's steady power demand could benefit the city-owned utility by helping offset future rate increases.

DEVELOPMENT: Google reveals plans for five-building campus in Virginia. Google has disclosed new details for Project Skye, a planned 887.7-acre data center campus in Chesterfield County, Virginia. The development will include five data center buildings, three electrical substations, along with supporting infrastructure such as roads, parking, utilities, and stormwater management systems. Project Skye is part of Google's previously announced $9 billion Virginia investment program and joins the company's other Chesterfield County developments, Project Loch and Project Peanut, as Google continues expanding its data center footprint across the state.
