NEWS ROUNDUP

DEVELOPMENT: New Era Helium JV advances land acquisition for 250MW data center in Texas. New Era Helium has provided an update on its joint venture with Sharon AI, known as Texas Critical Data Centers LLC (TCDC), regarding the development of a 250MW AI and high-performance computing (HPC) data center campus in Ector County, Texas. TCDC has completed and satisfied due diligence requirements, including the Phase 1 environmental study, for the initial 235-acre site. The land acquisition remains on schedule, with closing expected by the end of the month. In parallel, TCDC is progressing on permitting and infrastructure planning as it moves forward with building out a compute campus in the Permian Basin, a region known for its energy resources and expanding data center activity.

DEVELOPMENT: QTS eyes 15-building data center campus in Wisconsin. QTS Data Centers is planning a massive multi-phase data center campus in Dane County, Wisconsin, that could see up to 15 buildings constructed over the next decade, beginning with an initial phase of three to five facilities. The Virginia-based developer is targeting Vienna, a town just outside Madison, for the project, which is expected to generate over 1,000 construction jobs and billions in long-term investment. Co-CEO Tag Greason says the company was drawn to the area due to power availability through Alliant Energy, the University of Wisconsin’s talent pipeline, and a supportive local workforce. Each building would cost an estimated $300M–$350M, with total end-user investment projected to be three to five times higher, depending on demand.

PARTNERSHIP: Applied Digital and ABB launch 400MW data center. Applied Digital and ABB have unveiled a partnership to build a 400MW greenfield AI and HPC data center campus in Ellendale, North Dakota. Unlike traditional data centers that use low-voltage power distribution, this next-gen facility will skip intermediary conversion steps by distributing medium-voltage (MV) power directly to the rack-level low-voltage (LV) systems, cutting energy loss and operational overhead. ABB’s MV UPS enables modular expansion in 25MW blocks, helping speed deployments and reduce component complexity. CoreWeave, the Nvidia-backed cloud provider, has already signed a 250MW lease at the Ellendale site, with an option to expand by an additional 150MW.

FINANCING: Blue Owl Capital supplies $66 million. Blue Owl Capital has supplied a $65.7 million loan to refinance a data center in San Antonio, Texas. AGC Equity Partners obtained the loan.
