NEWS ROUNDUP

FUNDRAISING: NTT seeks $1 billion to accelerate data center expansion. NTT Global Data Centers (GDC) is reportedly working with Citigroup to raise at least $1 billion in new equity to fund U.S. data center developments. Doug Adams, CEO of NTT GDC, previously said the company is advancing 34 data center projects that will double its capacity within two years and increase total capacity to more than 5GW within five years.

DEVELOPMENT: Pittsburg advances 300,000SF project. Plans are advancing to redevelop part of the former Delta View Golf Course in Pittsburg, California, into the 300,000-square-foot AVAIO Perseus Data Center, the first phase of a 76-acre, three-phase development. However, the proposal has drawn significant opposition from residents and environmental groups, including the Center for Biological Diversity, which has filed a lawsuit alleging the project's environmental review failed to adequately address wildlife and climate impacts.

DEVELOPMENT: Microsoft breaks ground on $1 billion campus in Indiana. Microsoft has officially broken ground on its $1 billion data center campus in LaPorte, Indiana, marking the start of construction on a 489-acre site that will support the company’s cloud services and growing AI infrastructure. Brad Smith, Vice Chair and President of Microsoft, said the campus represents the beginning of a long-term partnership with the city and emphasized that the facility will power everyday digital services while contributing significantly to the local community through property tax payments that will benefit area schools.

PEOPLE MOVES: CyrusOne appoints new SVP of US Operations. CyrusOne has appointed Bob Hennegan as Senior Vice President of U.S. Operations, where he will oversee the performance, reliability, and scalability of the company’s expanding U.S. data center portfolio. Hennegan previously served as Vice President of Global Data Center Facility Operations at Meta. Rob Johnson, Chief Business Officer at CyrusOne, said Hennegan’s leadership experience and operational expertise will support the company’s next phase of growth as demand for digital infrastructure accelerates.
