NEWS ROUNDUP

DEVELOPMENT: Red Wolf advances $12.6 billion campus. Red Wolf DCD Properties, led by Aaron Wolofsky, is assembling land for a planned $12.6 billion data center campus in western Wyandotte County, Kansas. Through affiliate Red Wolf DCD KC, the developer secured an $8 million construction loan from Bankwell Bank to acquire land and has purchased more than 150 acres across multiple parcels. The broader development would span nearly 550 acres and include six 100MW data center buildings totaling approximately 1.8 million square feet, plus substations on each side of Parallel Parkway. Each building is valued at roughly $2.1 billion.

DEVELOPMENT: TeraWulf affiliate buys aluminum site for $200 million data center redevelopment. Century Aluminum Company has sold its 750-acre Hawesville, Kentucky site to Raylan Data Holdings, an affiliate of US data center developer TeraWulf, for a reported $200 million. Century will retain a 6.8% non-controlling minority stake in the project. While specific size and capacity details were not disclosed, TeraWulf noted the property includes more than 250 buildable acres and access to approximately 480MW of existing power capacity, with expansion potential. “We are very pleased to see the Hawesville site transition to productive use,” said Jesse Gary, president and CEO of Century. Paul Prager, chairman and CEO of TeraWulf, said the acquisition aligns with the company’s strategy of reinvesting in energy infrastructure to support grid reliability and long-term growth.

DEVELOPMENT: QumulusAI wins approval for 20MW campus in Texas. QumulusAI has received approval to develop a modular data center on roughly four acres in Denton, Texas. The site is leased from the city for about $20,000 per year for 10 years, under an agreement reached in August 2024. The plan calls for up to eight data center modules—described as pods/shipping containers—plus switching equipment and office space, with an estimated ~20MW power requirement. According to Spencer Smith, QumulusAI’s director of engineering, the facility will use closed-loop cooling with non-conductive fluid and will not require water.
