NEWS ROUNDUP

M&A: Nova Infrastructure acquires majority stake in DartPoints. Nova Infrastructure has acquired a majority stake in U.S. data center operator DartPoints from Astra Capital Management, injecting growth capital as part of a $250 million investment alongside Orion Infrastructure Capital. Orion will become a minority stakeholder, while Astra retains a minority interest. The funding will help scale DartPoints’ platform through capacity expansion and M&A. As part of the deal, DartPoints also acquired the real estate of three data centers in Greenville, Baton Rouge, and Asheville. Nova Managing Partner Chris Beall called DartPoints a “best-in-class” operator poised to benefit from decentralization trends in digital infrastructure. CEO Scott Willis said the investment supports DartPoints’ mission to deliver Tier 1-level digital capabilities to Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets, with a focus on infrastructure ownership and strategic growth.

DEVELOPMENT: PowerTransitions plans data center redevelopment. PowerTransitions has acquired the decommissioned Quindaro power plant in Kansas City, Kansas, with plans to convert the site into a data center. The company specializes in repurposing retired power plants for new uses, focusing on sustainable redevelopment. PowerTransitions aims to leverage the existing infrastructure of the Quindaro facility to support data center operations, contributing to the growing demand for digital infrastructure. The project is part of a broader trend of transforming obsolete industrial sites into technology hubs.

DEVELOPMENT: Oppidan plans 10MW data center in Albuquerque. Oppidan is developing a 90,000 SF, 10MW data center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The project is scheduled for completion by winter 2025, with PARIC Corporation serving as general contractor. Oppidan acquired the 10-acre site in September 2024 from Titan Development. Brian Patterson, partner at Titan, noted the sale aligns with efforts to attract strategic end-users and bolster the local economy. The Minnesota-based developer has a history of data center projects with Oracle, Bell Alliant, Sabey, and unnamed telecom clients. Its subsidiary, Connect Data Centers, reports having delivered 650MW of capacity and has 720MW in the pipeline nationwide. Recent projects include facilities in El Paso, Santa Clara, Chicago, and several other U.S. cities.

DEVELOPMENT: Little Rock considers $1 billion data center development. A potential $1 billion data center may be coming to Little Rock, Arkansas, contingent on incentives offered by the city. The proposed 300,000 SF facility, represented by Willowbend Capital on behalf of an unnamed company, was the subject of a recent resolution authorizing a memorandum of understanding with the city’s board of directors. The data center could be built at the Little Rock Port, with incentives under consideration including reduced franchise fees and a 65% property tax abatement for 30 years.

ENERGY: Dominion Energy plans $121 million transmission line. Dominion Energy has filed plans to build seven miles of 230kV high-voltage lines in Chesterfield County, Virginia, to power a planned 900MW hyperscale data center. The project will cost an estimated $121 million and deliver power in three 300MW phases between 2031 and 2033. While the identity of the data center developer remains undisclosed, the facility is expected to be sited within the Upper Magnolia Green technology park, pending a rezoning vote by the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors next month. Construction of the transmission line—from Dominion’s Midlothian Substation to a new Duval Substation—is slated to begin in February 2027 and finish by June 2028.
