PARTNERSHIP: BlackRock and Microsoft Raising $30B for AI Data Center Fund. BlackRock’s Aladdin platform leader, Rob Goldstein, and Microsoft’s Vice President of Azure AI, Eric Boyd, are spearheading a groundbreaking $30 billion AI-focused data center fund. Their collaboration is designed to accelerate the construction of next-generation AI data centers that will support massive workloads tied to machine learning and cloud computing. As they target global markets, the fund is expected to draw investment toward high-tech infrastructure in regions where AI adoption is rapidly expanding. With leadership from both firms, this partnership is set to reshape the landscape of AI infrastructure globally.
DEVELOPMENT: Microsoft’s AI Power Needs Prompt Revival of Three Mile Island Nuclear Plant. To support the massive energy demands of Microsoft’s AI operations, Brian Janous, General Manager of Energy and Sustainability at Microsoft, is leading discussions around reviving the dormant Three Mile Island nuclear plant. His focus is on securing long-term, low-carbon energy sources to power the company's data centers, and nuclear energy presents a unique solution. This project, in collaboration with energy consultants like John Kotek from the Nuclear Energy Institute, may set the stage for other tech companies looking to meet sustainability goals in an era of increasing AI workloads.
DEVELOPMENT: $1B Data Center Project Slated for Taylor, Texas. Franklin Haney, CEO of Franklin Haney Company, is the visionary behind a new $1 billion data center project in Taylor, Texas. This project is expected to further establish the region as a major player in data infrastructure, leveraging the leadership of local development firm Matthews Southwest and its president, Jack Matthews. Their collaboration will attract cloud service providers and enterprise clients to the area, creating significant opportunities for both real estate and tech professionals.
PARTNERSHIP: CBRE Expands Data Center Services with Acquisition of Direct Line Global. CBRE’s Pat Lynch, Global Head of Advisory & Transaction Services for Data Centers, led the acquisition of Direct Line Global, a move to expand the company’s technical support capabilities. Direct Line’s Scott Farrell, CEO, brings decades of expertise in data center infrastructure, allowing CBRE to offer a more comprehensive set of services to its clients. This acquisition positions both Lynch and Farrell as key players in the growing market for end-to-end data center solutions, where demand for integrated services is rising fast.
