DEVELOPMENT: Rocklocker revives Kalkaska data center plan. Kalkaska County is weighing a proposal from Matt Rine, a geologist and head of Rocklocker, to develop a 1,400-acre data center and natural-gas plant on state land.

DEVELOPMENT: Meta launches $1B Wisconsin AI data center. Meta has started construction on a $1 billion AI data center in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, its 30th global facility, designed for heavy AI workloads. The company is investing about $200 million in energy upgrades, partnering with Alliant Energy to ensure sufficient power.

DEVELOPMENT: CRG proposes Festus hyperscale data center. CRG is proposing a new hyperscale data center on a 200+ acre site in Festus, Missouri.

FINANCE: Oracle taps $38B loan for data center expansion. Data center opposition surges. Oracle has borrowed $38 billion through private loans to fund its AI-related data center buildout, as cash flow and earnings alone are no longer enough to support the massive expansion of hyperscale infrastructure.
