ENERGY: California protects ratepayers amid data center growth. California’s new SB 57 law directs the CPUC to study data centers’ grid impact and protect ratepayers from rising energy costs. Siemens welcomes the state’s focus on sustainable energy infrastructure as data center demand — including a 50% growth in Siemens’ own data center business — continues to expand.

ENERGY: PG&E powers Microsoft’s AI growth in San Jose. PG&E is supplying electricity to Microsoft’s San Jose AI data center, highlighting its role in powering growing AI infrastructure.

DEVELOPMENT: Bessemer clears way for huge data center. Bessemer City Council approved zoning changes for Project Marvel, a $14.4B, 4.5M sq. ft. hyperscale data center on 700 acres. Despite local opposition over energy use, pollution, and traffic, the council voted unanimously. The move also allows future data centers in similar zones. Formal development approval is set for Nov. 18.

DEVELOPMENT: Amazon advances $20 billion data center campus. Amazon Web Services is rapidly advancing construction on its new data center campus in Salem Township, Pennsylvania. Part of a $20 billion statewide investment, the project is creating hundreds of local jobs and strengthening Pennsylvania’s digital infrastructure.
