NEWS ROUNDUP

DEVELOPMENT: 3 G Investments files plans for 3.3 million-SF campus near Augusta. 3 G Investments has filed a development of regional impact application for a 3.34 million-SF data center campus on 388 acres in Richmond County, just outside Augusta, Georgia. The largely vacant site sits next to Augusta Regional Airport, about 150 miles east of Atlanta. It's unclear whether any data center developers or end users are involved, and Google, QTS and Cloverleaf already have data centers in the Augusta area.

FINANCING: Fermi signs AMD credit support deal for first 222MW near Amarillo. Fermi has signed a credit support agreement with AMD to back financing for the first 222MW of IT capacity at its Project Matador campus in Carson County, Texas, with AMD effectively acting as a guarantor. AI cloud provider TensorWave has agreed to take up to 650MW at the campus under a contract Fermi values at up to $6.5 billion over 15 years. Fermi CEO Lee McIntire said the company already has the land, permits, water, power equipment and fiber in place.

LEGISLATION: Oregon governor orders pause on data center pollution permits. Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek has directed the state Department of Environmental Quality to pause air and water pollution permits for new or expanding data centers, effectively halting new data center development in the state. The pause also covers requests from cities to renew or modify wastewater treatment permits to take discharge from data centers. Kotek said the time-limited pause will let her review recommendations from the state's Data Center Advisory Committee ahead of the next legislative session.

ENERGY: AES Indiana wins approval for $1.3B solar and storage project for Google. The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission has approved AES Indiana's plan to build a $1.3 billion solar, battery storage and transmission project to power a Google data center in Monrovia, Indiana, with Google paying all of the costs. The project includes 460MW of battery storage, 130MW of solar and a 10-mile, 345kV transmission line to an on-site substation. Gustavo Garavaglia, CEO of AES US Utilities, said Google will pay $32.3 million for direct connection facilities, and the contract includes protections against shifting costs to other ratepayers if Google scales back or drops the project.
