NEWS ROUNDUP

Google - Roanoke County, VA

DEVELOPMENT: Google confirmed as buyer of 94-acre data center site in Roanoke County. The Western Virginia Regional Industrial Facility Authority has confirmed that Google is the parent company of Clearview Dynamics, which is in talks to buy 94 acres at Wood Haven Technology Park in Roanoke County, Virginia, for a data center. The site, jointly owned by Roanoke, Roanoke County and Salem, sits near the junction of Interstates 81 and 581. Clay Allsop, Google's regional public affairs manager, said the company will continue its due diligence on the site, including engineering, utility capacity and environmental studies, and Google has already announced a campus in nearby Botetourt County.

Soar AI - Chillicothe, OH

FINANCING: Soar AI lands up to $1B equity facility to expand Ohio AI campus. Soar AI, formerly private aviation company Volato Group, has signed an equity facility of up to $1 billion with an institutional investor to expand its AI infrastructure campus in Ohio, which has 154MW available and a path to 480MW. The company also plans to redevelop brownfield industrial sites in the US and abroad, reusing their existing electrical infrastructure. CEO Chris Ensey said the opportunity runs to hundreds of megawatts across multiple sites, and a large AI customer recently agreed to buy $1.2 billion of services from the company.

Venture Global - Plaquemines Parish, LA

ENERGY: Venture Global signs power equipment deals to support up to 10GW of data centers. Venture Global has signed frame agreements with GE Vernova and Baker Hughes for up to 16 new 720MW gas-fired power island units, giving it a path to make up to 10GW of compute capacity available for data centers at sites it owns or controls. The units would run behind the meter and off the public grid, building on about 4.5GW of generation that already serves, or will serve, the LNG exporter's own facilities. CEO Mike Sabel said the company is creating a vertically integrated AI utility that can provide power, gas supply, closed-loop water systems, land and data centers.

Westfield - Westfield, MA

PERMITTING: Westfield kills Servistar's $3B data center campus by denying permit extension. The Westfield, Massachusetts, Planning Board has voted unanimously not to extend Servistar Realties' special permit for a $3 billion hyperscale data center campus on more than 150 acres, effectively killing the project. Board members said Servistar never bought the land, let its LLC status lapse and never recorded the permit. Paul Corey, who represented Servistar, blamed the market, pointing to paused state tax incentives and tariffs, and the company has 20 days to appeal.
