DEVELOPMENT: Meta expands Texas footprint with $1.5B AI data center. Meta announced plans for a $1.5 billion AI-focused data center in El Paso, Texas its 29th worldwide and third in the state.

DEVELOPMENT: OpenAI commits $400B to build 5 AI data centers. OpenAI is investing $400 billion to construct five massive “Stargate” data centers across the U.S., aiming to rival Microsoft and Meta in AI infrastructure. Strategic partners include Oracle and SoftBank.

DEVELOPMENT: Google announces $9B investment. Google has committed $9 billion by 2027 to expand its existing Berkeley County campus and construct two new campuses in Dorchester County. The projects, part of Google’s broader U.S. data center growth, include sustainability measures such as a 600MW solar agreement and a water management partnership to support the company’s cloud and AI operations.

WATER: Amazon addresses water use challenges. As data centers expand in Ohio, Amazon is navigating both operational demands and community concerns over water usage. Marysville’s 1.4 billion-gallon reservoir, which supports several data centers, supplies roughly 10% of the city’s daily water capacity to nearby facilities. With Amazon planning a new data center in the region, the company is actively considering efficiency measures and water reuse strategies to reduce strain on municipal resources.
