DEVELOPMENT: Meta secures $30B financing for Louisiana data center. Meta has secured a $30 billion funding package for its Hyperion data center project in Richland Parish, Louisiana. The company will co-own the facility with Blue Owl Capital, retaining a 20% stake. The deal, arranged by Morgan Stanley, includes $27 billion in debt and $2.5 billion in equity, supporting Meta’s ongoing push to expand AI data infrastructure.
DEVELOPMENT: Meta addresses Southern Indiana community concerns. Meta is constructing a large data center at River Ridge Commerce Center in Clark County, Indiana, scheduled to open within a year. Local residents have raised concerns about water usage, rising utility costs, and community impact. Meta clarified that the Jeffersonville facility uses a closed-loop cooling system with dry cooling to minimize water consumption.
M&A: BlackRock, Microsoft, Nvidia, and xAI buy Aligned Data Centers for $40 billion. A consortium including BlackRock, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Elon Musk’s xAI has agreed to acquire Aligned Data Centers for $40 billion - the largest data center deal ever. The purchase from Macquarie Asset Management brings 50 campuses with over 5GW of capacity under one group.
ENERGY: Amazon powers data centers with new nuclear project. Amazon is partnering with Energy Northwest and X-energy to build the Cascade Advanced Energy Facility in Richland, Washington. The small modular reactor (SMR) project will use X-energy’s Xe-100 design, starting with four units generating 320 MW and expanding to 960 MW.
