NEWS ROUNDUP

DEVELOPMENT: Stack files plans for $540M, 54MW data center building in Lancaster, Texas. An affiliate of Stack Infrastructure has filed plans with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for a $540 million, two-story, 350,045-SF data center at 1130 E. Belt Line Road in Lancaster, Texas, that would offer 54MW. It would be the second building at Stack's South Dallas campus, which a sales brochure describes as a 500MW development on 193 acres with up to five buildings totaling 1.76 million SF and an on-site substation. The campus's first building, a 360,030-SF facility, is already under construction, and QTS and Skybox also have projects in Lancaster.

ENERGY: Google to fund about $600M in power upgrades for expanded West Memphis campus. Google will pay for about $600 million in new power infrastructure and a power purchase agreement from Entergy Arkansas to support a second phase of its data center campus in West Memphis, Arkansas. The upgrades include 1,400MWh of battery storage across two sites, a 440MW solar power purchase agreement from the Big Island solar facility and an expanded Galet substation with two new 230kV transmission lines to serve the campus. Entergy Arkansas said the deal will bring at least $500 million in savings for its 738,000 customers over 20 years, and the contract still needs approval from the Arkansas Public Service Commission.

ACQUISITION: CBRE agrees to acquire data center infrastructure firm Onnec for about $610M. CBRE has agreed to acquire Onnec, a London-based provider of data center infrastructure services for hyperscalers in Europe and Asia Pacific, for £460 million (about $610 million) in cash, plus an earnout of up to £300 million if Onnec meets growth targets. Onnec has about 800 employees and is expected to generate about £370 million in annual revenue, and it will join CBRE's Critical Infrastructure Services business. Vikram Kohli, CBRE's chief operating officer, said CBRE is building a global infrastructure services business to complement its real estate services, and the deal still needs regulatory approval.

FUNDRAISING: Blackstone closes $8.7B energy transition fund backing power and data center cooling. Blackstone has closed Blackstone Energy Transition Partners V at its $8.7 billion hard cap, making it more than 50% larger than its predecessor fund. The fund has already backed three power generation and transmission platforms, Kindle, Fisterra and Viridon, and has acquired Flow Control Holdings, a US maker of liquid cooling components for data centers. David Foley, global head of Blackstone Energy Transition Partners, said rising electricity demand gives experienced investors a large opportunity to fund manufacturing capacity, skilled labor and new energy infrastructure.
