NEWS ROUNDUP

TeraWulf - Grayson, KY

DEVELOPMENT: TeraWulf doubles contracted power to 1GW at Kentucky campus. TeraWulf has amended its electric service agreement with Kentucky Power to double contracted capacity at its Kentucky data center campus from 500 megawatts to 1 gigawatt. The agreement also moves the planned delivery of the second 500-megawatt phase forward from 2030 to 2029, subject to regulatory approval and Kentucky Power’s construction schedule, while the first 500-megawatt phase remains targeted to begin ramping in 2028. TeraWulf Chairman and CEO Paul Prager said strong customer interest and access to power were key drivers behind the expansion.

PowerHouse - Taylor, TX

DEVELOPMENT: Big Watt and PowerHouse seek approval for 500MW campus in Taylor, Texas. The Austin suburb of Taylor, Texas, is set to decide on annexation and zoning for a 664-acre data center campus proposed by Big Watt Digital and PowerHouse Data Centers. The campus would have 500MW of data center load with on-site power generation, plus room for another 500MW for an unnamed tenant. City officials said the campus would use closed-loop cooling with reclaimed water and no drinking water.

Google - Council Bluffs, IA

ENERGY: Google signs 3.6GW of power deals with Constellation. Google has signed agreements with Constellation covering 3.6 gigawatts of power, including a 20-year PPA for 890 megawatts of nuclear energy and a separate 15-year deal for 2.7 gigawatts across the PJM market. The nuclear agreement will enable Constellation to invest $4.3 billion in upgrades across 11 nuclear units in Illinois, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Amanda Peterson Corio, Google’s global head of energy and power, said the agreements will help strengthen the grid, support energy affordability and create jobs, while Constellation Chairman, President and CEO Joe Dominguez said the partnership demonstrates how technology companies can fund new and existing generation to support growing digital infrastructure demand.

Lovejoy - Lovejoy, GA

LEGISLATION: Lovejoy, Georgia, bans data centers after 1.25GW proposal is withdrawn. The city of Lovejoy, Georgia, has approved an ordinance banning data centers within city limits, after opposing a proposed campus near two schools. Stillwater Development had filed plans for a 15-building, 3.5 million-SF campus with 1.25GW of capacity at full build-out, and withdrew its application before the vote. Lovejoy is not covered by Clayton County's broader data center moratorium.
